Social Media. It’s taking over our world isn’t it? I recently read a great book on social media called “ENGAGE!” Brian Solis, the author of “ENGAGE !” has been actively writing about new marketing and business since the mid 90s to document how the web was and has been redefining the communications industry. He was among the original thought leaders working to organize and define the “Social Media” movement to establish a definitive media category. Solis has influenced the effects of emerging media on business, sales, and marketing. The full title of his book is, “Engage: The Complete Guide for Brands and Businesses to Build, Cultivate, and Measure Success in the New Web, Revised and Updated.” Now thats a title. I enjoyed reading this book, for people who want to learn more about social media and how to use social media as a business tool, you should defiantly read this book. “ENGAGE!” explains how Twitter, YouTube and Facebook (as well as many other social media sites) can provide connection between people who have the same interests and goals and this can really help shape the perception of different brands. This book is a guide to create a welcoming online space that can gain your customers’ and clients’ loyalty and trust. It guides you on how to build your reputation through social media. What I liked about this book was that at the beginning of the book there is a Foreword by Ashton Kutcher, who is known as “Mr. Social” himself. He explains in his Foreword that we as people can’t grow without learning new things, such as social media. “As we engage, we learn.” says Kutcher I also like that “ENGAGE!” goes into detail about the terminology used in social media. I had no idea what a micro blog was before I read this book, among many other things. “ENGAGE!” might go on for a little bit too long but it really explains how to brand yourself and how to build your reputation via social media. Today’s business world is thriving on social media and “ENGAGE!” by Brian Solis would be a great thing to pick up and read. You will learn a lot.
